Manufacturer's Warranty & Premium Protection Program Terms & Conditions

The Premium Protection Program extends the standard one-year Manufacturer’s Warranty to two or three years and includes additional benefits for hassle-free grinder maintenance.

By purchasing a DF Grinder or enrolling in the Premium Protection Program, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Manufacturer’s Warranty

All DF Grinders include a one-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal home use (see Section 1.1). This warranty is fulfilled in-house by DF Grinders.

1.1 Intended Use & Maintenance

To maintain coverage for either the Manufacturer's Warranty or Premium Protection Program, the grinder must be used and maintained as follows:

  1. Use exclusively for grinding coffee beans.
  2. Operate following manufacturer instructions, including using built-in bellows after grinding to prevent retention.
  3. Clean by wiping down with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use water, soaps or any other cleaning agents.
  4. Avoid continuous grinding. The grinder is designed for single-dose grinding only. If grinding multiple doses, allow adequate cooling time between uses. Continuously grinding large amounts of coffee may damage the motor or other critical components. Do not leave the grinder running continuously for extended periods. Overheating may occur, leading to potential motor damage.
  5. Only use manufacturer-approved replacement parts.
  6. Operate within standard North American voltage.

2. Exclusions

The Manufacturer’s Warranty and Premium Protection Program do not cover the following:

  1. Commercial use (e.g., use in coffee shops)
  2. Improper use or maintenance, including but not limited to:
    - Grinding products other than coffee (e.g., spices, grains, or nuts)
    - Using the grinder in wet or humid environments leading to damage
    - Failure to properly clean the grinder, resulting in buildup or motor failure
  3. Improper maintenance or cleaning resulting in damage (e.g., motor failure due to debris buildup)
  4. Unauthorized modifications & repairs, including but not limited to:
    - Disassembling or re-assembling the burr chamber incorrectly
    - Incorrect burr replacement
    - Electrical modifications or motor tampering
    - Use of non-compatible parts
  5. Accidental damage, including but not limited to:
    - Drops, spills, impact damage, excessive heat/cold exposure
    - Liquid/water damage (grinders are not waterproof)
    - Shipping damage due to improper packing (see Section 3).
  6. Burrs
    - Burrs are considered wear-and-tear components and are not covered under the Manufacturer’s Warranty or Premium Protection Program.
    - Premium Protection members can access professional burr replacement for a flat $25 labour fee when purchasing new burrs from DF Grinders. Customers are responsible for shipping costs for this service.

3. Shipping

DF Grinders provides complimentary shipping for all approved warranty claims under both the Manufacturer’s Warranty and the Premium Protection Program.

Before authorizing a return, our support team will troubleshoot the issue to determine eligibility. Please do not send your grinder in until you receive authorization.

For authorized claims, DF Grinders will provide a prepaid shipping label. Shipping expediency will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Customers are responsible for their grinder until it arrives at our service center.

If a grinder is initially authorized for shipping but later found ineligible under the Manufacturer’s Warranty or Premium Protection Program, the customer will be responsible for all shipping costs, including return shipping.

4. Original Packaging Requirement

To qualify for the Manufacturer’s Warranty or Premium Protection Program, you must keep your grinder’s original packaging. This ensures safe shipping of your grinder.

If you no longer have the original packaging, you may need to purchase a replacement shipping box or additional protective materials. However, you will not be eligible for the Express Turnaround Service.

5. Geographic Availability

Manufacturer's Warranty and Premium Protection Program coverage are available only to customers in Canada.

6. Premium Protection Program - Added Coverage

The Premium Protection Program includes the following benefits:

  1. Extended Warranty Coverage: Coverage for two or three years (depending on the plan purchased) against manufacturer defects. See Sections 1 and 2 for coverage details and exclusions.
  2. Express Turnaround Service: If eligible, a replacement unit of the same model will be shipped within one business day of our service centre receiving your grinder. See sections 6.3 and 6.4 for details.
  3. Free Shipping: We cover all shipping costs for approved warranty claims for the full two or three year period. See section 3 for details.
  4. 10-Business-Day Service Turnaround Guarantee: For claims that do not qualify for Express Turnaround, repairs are guaranteed to be completed within 10 business days (excluding shipping time).
  5. Discounted Professional Burr Changes: Premium Protection members have access to professional burr changes for a flat rate of $25 when burrs are purchased from DF Grinders. See section 2 for details.

6.1 Premium Protection Program Eligibility

To maintain warranty eligibility:

  • Retain all original packing materials. This is essential to ensure safe shipping.
  • Register your grinder within 30 days of receiving it.
  • The grinder must be used properly as per section 1.1 and not meet any exclusions as per section 2.

6.2 Premium Protection Program Pricing

The Premium Protection Program is available at a discounted rate when added at checkout with your grinder purchase. Customers may also purchase it within 30 days of their original order at standard pricing. Availability and pricing vary by model and are subject to change.

6.3 Express Turnaround Service

Our Express Turnaround Service is designed to minimize your downtime by shipping a replacement grinder within one business day of our service centre receiving your unit.

6.4 Requirements for Express Turnaround

To qualify for Express Turnaround:

  1. The grinder must be returned in its original packaging with a matching serial number.
  2. The grinder must not have any significant scratches, dents, or damage.
  3. If minor replaceable parts are damaged (e.g., bellows, lid, portafilter fork), you may opt to pay for their replacement to qualify.

Important: DF Grinders will assess the condition of the returned product to determine eligibility for Express Turnaround. Grinders eligible for the Premium Protection Program but not eligible for Express Turnaround will still be eligible for guaranteed 10-business day turnaround (excludes shipping time).

6.5 Replacement Grinders for Express Turnaround

Replacement grinders are refurbished units of the same model and generation as the one sent in. Each replacement unit is thoroughly inspected and cleaned to like-new condition. Express Turnaround is subject to inventory availability. If no replacement grinders are available, we will repair your unit under our 10-business day service guarantee.

    7. How to Make a Claim

    1. Submit a Claim: Submit a warranty claim online.
    2. Get Personalized Help: Our friendly service team will reach out directly to diagnose the issue and guide you on the best solution.
    3. Receive Shipping Authorization & Instructions: Premium Protection Program members will receive prepaid shipping labels and detailed packaging instructions. Please do not send in your grinder until authorized by our team.
    4. Ship Your Grinder: Securely pack your grinder in its original packaging and send it to us. Note: You are responsible for the grinder until it arrives at our service centre.
    5. Inspection & Resolution: Once received, your grinder will be inspected and tested to confirm the issue and determine the best course of action:
      - If eligible for our Express Turnaround Service, a replacement grinder will be shipped within 24 hours.
      - Repairs are completed within 10 business days for Premium Protection Program members (excludes shipping time).
    6. Stay Informed: We’ll keep you updated each step of the way and will notify you as soon as your repaired or replacement grinder is on its way back to you!

    7.1 Certified Open Box Grinders

    Certified Open Box grinders are covered under the same warranty terms, coverage, and exclusions as new units. Certified Open Box grinders are not eligible for the Premium Protection Program.

    If a certified open box grinder has an approved warranty claim and cannot be repaired, the customer will be eligible for a refund or gift receipt, but not an exchange.

    8. General Terms & Conditions

    • DF Grinders is committed to providing the best possible coverage and service through the Premium Protection Program. While we may update or improve the program over time, any changes will not affect coverage already purchased.
    • Manufacturer's Warranty and the Premium Protection Program are non-transferable and apply only to the original purchaser.
    • DF Grinders’ liability is strictly limited to the repair or replacement of defective units under warranty.
    • DF Grinders is not liable for any incidental or consequential damages.
    • These terms are governed by Canadian commercial law.
