The invitation for comment is always too soon for a proper analysis. However, this is a very nicely made machine. pleased to see so few plastic parts, particularly where they may wear, works well and is quiet. Looking forward to what i hope is many years of trouble free use.
Bought a budget grinder (fellow opus) originally, lots of retention, and frustrating moments.
Upgraded to the 64 and after the first few grinds, instantly better and worth the dosh.
Buy it nice or buy it twice. I wish i bought the 64 first saved the time and energy <3
Quiet, strong and consistent. Nice to work with. Big improvement on clarity of flavour with same beans relative to previous grinder.
I can’t believe I held off on this purchase for so long. Such an upgrade from my ceramic hand grinder. I love the adjustable dial and how quiet it is. I can also easily grind 30g at a time no problem, despite what it says in the specs. She’s perfect and I love her <3
Great coffee grinder. Works perfect. Only things I’d change or improve would be the rubber part at the top comes off fairly easily, the grind size dial is very hard to rotate and want would be to be able for your portafilter to fit and stay under the grinder.
really pleased by this grinder, it is so much better comparing to my burnt virtuso.
Has transformed my espresso. Going from pre-ground coffee to this has made a night and day difference in the quality of my coffee. The machine is great value and is a very cute compact size which looks great on my counter.
The DF54 is a good size and works beautifully. I also love that it's a Canadian product sold at a great price. My only suggestion: product identification on the grinder to promote it more clearly. (I had to find my instruction sheet to find the product name).
Very solid build quality. I have only tried grounds in the espresso range so far but everything has been light fluffy and very consistent.
The grinder is so super quiet and very accurate.
The only issue is that the coarse adjuster is very stiff and takes two hands to turn. You have to put in a good amount of effort to turn it. It's not a one-handed adjustment, which seems strange.
I previously used a Cuisinart ceramic burr grinder to grind whole beans for my Breville Duo-Temp Pro machine. I thought the results I was achieving were good considering the relatively low cost of my equipment. Then I watched a James Hoffmann video about the big brother to this grinder - the DF64 - and I decided to splurge on a new grinder. The improvement in espresso quality and flavour is ASTRONOMICAL - far beyond what I expected it could be. When I ordered my DF54 I wondered whether it could possibly be worth the seemingly high prices, and now I wish I had bought one a LONG time ago.
If you are unsure whether this grinder is worth the cost, IT IS! The grind quality is consistent and uniform and resulted in an immediate improvement in expression and crema formation with the exact same coffee. I taste flavours that were absent with my previous grinder, and as a minor added bonus, the puck pops out with very little effort now (I used to have to bang the filter 4-5 times quite hard to release the puck, and it was always a little sloppy).
I am not saying that this is the best grinder at any price point, but it IS an excellent grinder at a reasonable price. It has significantly improved the quality of my home espresso, elevating it to being equal to most decent coffee shops.
I just started making espresso with the Breville Bambino Plus. I was using my blender to grind the beans, which worked, but as you can imagine was pretty terrible. The DF54 yields perfect coffee grounds every time and I was finally able to get the “honey” colour and consistency of espresso coming from the Bambino, given the grinder lets you make changes to how granular you want the resulting coffee grounds to be. I’ve been using this for 2 months now and it’s still running perfectly. Highly recommended!!
I received my grinder yesterday.
It's been awesome. Came with clear instructions. Ready to go out of the box.
And honestly even higher build quality than what I was expecting.
Excited to play with it some more to really dial things in.
Also, it's always great to be able to support Canadian business!
Being a beginner of espresso making the DF 64 grinder is very
good . The first month of grinding , a bit messy around the shut but after a couple times of cleaning it looks clean. I am very pleased with
this brand . My coffee now is very good and enjoyable and I am glad that I purchased that piece of equipment.

I’ve had my grinder for almost a month. I was going to buy a DF53 but it was unavailable so I splurged on the DF64. It is much quieter than I thought it would be with very little retention. I’m still experimenting with grinds as I make coffee with an aeropress. This is a great grinder.
Great grinder, don't waste your time with the larger version unless you live in a mansion. This baby does it all and a fraction of the size
